Shipping Scenarios Flow Chart

Shipping Scenarios

Our Truck

In this most basic of scenarios, you are shipping material to a customer via your truck.

Common Carrier

In this scenario, you will be shipping an order via UPS or another common carrier.

Pack & Hold

A pack and hold is where you will stage material on the pack and hold shelf for later delivery.

Pick ticket prints with items in stock to be picked as well as items on B/O. Note that “Pack and Hold” is prominently displayed on the PT.

- Take PT and pick material.

Merging Releases

We will assume that you have picked and packed the material from all releases of a Pack and Hold order and have been notified that the order is complete and ready for final release.

Picking Less Than Allocated

Sometimes a PT will print and you won’t pick the full quantity of items allocated on that release. This will typically happen for two main reasons. 1. You can’t pick the full quantity because there are missing items 2. You choose not to pick the full quantity because it doesn’t make sense at the time. If this occurs follow the process below.

Cherry Picking

Sometimes you will have a scenario where a customer wants to pick up or have shipped only a partial quantity of an order that is already allocated in full.

Cherry Picking Before Material is Staged

Let’s assume a customer calls in an order and tells you that he wants some of the material shipped immediately and the rest held to be released later. Customer specifies they want 5 of the Q0120 fuses immediately and will call to let you know when to release the rest.

Cherry Picking After Material is Staged

Perhaps the material for a certain order has been staged as is the case in a standard pack and hold scenario. Then the customer calls and asks for just some of the material to be released. The example below will cover how to manage this. Let’s assume the order has already been picked and staged.

Manifest Management

Preparing Manifest for Delivery

When you add orders to staging areas tied to manifests, they are added to the active manifest dedicated to that staging location. There will always be an active manifest available, as when you change the status of the existing active manifest, a new active manifest will be created in its place. Once you are ready to deliver the material in a given manifest follow the process below.

Mark Manifest as Delivered

Once you are back from the delivery, OR the common carrier has picked up material for a given manifest, you are ready to mark the manifest as delivered. This will auto post all orders on said manifest to delivered and will flow to AR to be invoiced.
